State affairs cannot be managed well without first enforcing strict discipline within the party. “The metal itself must be hard to be turned into iron. To govern and rule a party, one must be strict. If the party is not strictly administered, then problems cannot be resolved, and sooner or later the party will lose its right to govern, and inevitably be eliminated in history”, General Secretary Xi Jinping warned.

"We must adhere and stay committed to the party’s leadership, strengthen the party's core, maintain strict governance of the party, and promote the relationship and responsibility between building a clean government and the struggle against corruption”, stressed Wang Qishan, member of the Politburo Standing Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. At present, the party should unite and lead the people through the great struggle, promote the great cause and realise the great dream, so that the party will always be the firm leadership core for advancing the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The party’s doings represents the party, and this is of great significance in maintaining the relationship between the party and the masses. “If the party serves the country well, and the people are content, then they will be able to share both joy and sorrow” said Xi. In December 2012, Xi stipulated the Eight-point regulation, announced at a meeting of the Politburo of the Communist party of China. These regulations were aimed at instilling more discipline among party members, and making the party "closer to the masses". Over the past five years, it has been proven that as long as the party is strictly regulated, then all problems within a party can be overcome.

"The biggest threat our party faces is corruption. We must uphold tenacious willpower, adhere to zero tolerance, and ensure all cases of corruption are properly investigated and that those involved are punished.” Xi continued. The party has been resolute in its campaign against corruption, and have adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ stance. At least 240 senior officials have been investigated by The 18th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and a total of 1.19 million party members have been punished. "Sky Net" and "Fox Hunt" operations were launched to hunt corruption suspects who have fled the country, and almost 3,000 fugitives from more than 90 countries and regions had been captured thus far.

“Strict governance relies jointly on education and the system”, Xi stated. We must adhere to the idea of building a party and a system of close integration. This will form a solid foundation for the party’s ideologies, and at the same time provide a system to safeguard the interests of the party. Five years on, many regulations have been implemented with the purpose of educating party members. The party continues to implement new policies and the party's political life and discipline continues to regulate and improve.

The people are the greatest political asset, and justice is the strongest force.
