Guangdong is renowned as the ideal place for gourmets. As one of China's four major cuisines, Yue Cuisine (Guangdong cuisine) mainly encompasses Cantonese, Chaoshan and Hakka branches, blending with distinct seafood delicacies. As the Golden Week Holiday approaches, GO Guangdong presents 12 cuisine-themed routes to explore and taste the authentic flavor of Lingnan!
在广东,美食不仅是一种舌尖上的享受,更是一种浸润生活的哲学,“食在广东”的美誉早已深入人心。粤菜作为中国四大菜系之一,包含广府菜、潮汕菜和客家菜三大分支,加上独具特色的海鲜美味,各成一派又相映成趣。恰逢“十一”黄金周长假来临,跟着这12条美食主题线路,从一口地道的广府味开始,感受岭南的人间烟火。
Chaozhou
Wandering through Chaozhou, historic relics such as Paifang Street, Guangji Bridge and Han Wengong Ancestral Temple, have been well-preserved, making a living community. Take a break, along the ancient streets, you may take a sip of Dancong Tea at the Zaiyang Tea House while enjoying a Chao Opera. And try some local specialties, such as Guozhi and oyster pancake.

Kungfu Tea
Fenghuang Town, nestled in the Fenghuang Mountain, is renowned as the birthplace of Chinese oolong tea and serves as the primary production area for Dancong tea.

Shantou
Renowned as a major port city, Shantou has formed its iconic gastronomic culture. Laomagong Zongzi in sweet and salted flavors for afternoon tea, beef hotpot for supper, and chilled seafood dishes for "late night tea".

Jieyang
The journey takes you from the lush bamboo groves of Jiedong Bamboos Garden, where you can taste chicken soup with bamboo shoot, to the splendid Huangmanzhai Waterfalls. Enjoy braised pork knuckle and sliced boiled free-range chicken, take a break at Jingming Hot Spring Village, then cross off Longjiang braised pork knuckle rice in the town, and savor a bowl of Huilai fish ball soup alongside the beautiful sea.

Guangzhou
Acclaimed as one of the food capitals of China, Guangzhou provides gourmet food in both western and eastern style, but amongst the most iconic and distinct ones are Cantonese dishes and dim sum. In the melodious sounds of Cantonese Opera, you may enjoy all kinds of snacks and desserts including wonton, jook-sing noodle, shrimp dumpling, imitation shark fin soup and sizzling clay pot dishes.

Foshan

Zhongshan
As a renowned overseas Chinese hometown, this revitalized historic city provides not only cultural heritages but diverse gourmet food. The century-old Sunwen West Road pedestrian street reopened and will hold series of events and food festivals during the golden week holidays.

Meizhou is the Capital of Hakka in the world. Its appealing Hakka cuisine such as Yong Tau Foo (Brewed Tofu), Salty-baked Chicken, Baihou Roll, and Silver Needle Noodle not only attract people to visit but bring the hometown flavors to overseas Chinese all around the world.

Heyuan
Heyuan possesses natural resources including Wanlv Lake, the largest man-made lake in South China, and East River, which boasts fresh food ingredients, such as fish, local green soybeans and natural spring water. Taking whatever is currently locally available serves as the magic code for making freshest and most delicious stuffed food.

Shaoguan
Challenge the perception that Cantonese food is not spicy in Shaozhou, Shaoguan. The Meiguan Goose on Meiguan Ancient Road and Zhuji Ancient Lane packs a serious punch. More fresh wild mountain delicacies such as snails, mushrooms, and bamboo-shoot-flavored duck are also provided.

Jiangmen
Jiangmen, China's foremost hometown of overseas Chinese, preserves its rich history as well as the traditional delicacies. Visitors can experience the rich traditions of overseas Chinese communities in Gulao Tourist Area and Chikan Ancient Town, and taste ancient culinary delights such as eel rice, Gujing Roast Goose, river fresh and tangerine peel banquet.

Zhanjiang
In Zhanjiang, a city with the longest coastline in Guangdong Province, seafood is the topic that cannot be avoided in any way. Islands including Techeng, Naozhou, and East Island, where beautiful scenery from mangroves to volcanic rocks and long beaches are the perfect backdrops for seafood banquets including mantis shrimps and oysters.
