From March 17 to 18, Richard Parker, mayor of the West Midlands in the United Kingdom, led a high-level delegation to Shenzhen, for a two-day visit.

The delegation took a group photo at the headquarters of Mindray in Nanshan District, Shenzhen.
The delegation, representing the core areas of British manufacturing and finance, included the mayor of the West Midlands, the deputy mayor of Greater London, the deputy mayor of Liverpool, the deputy mayor of Greater Manchester, the deputy mayor of the East Midlands, as well as officials from the British Embassy in Beijing and representatives from various business associations. The British mayors visited Shenzhen together, touring local enterprises including Tencent, BYD, HONOR, and Mindray. The delegation examined Shenzhen's achievements in technological innovation and industrial development models, attempting to decode the secrets behind the city's rapid rise in the global technology and economic fields.
On the morning of March 18, the delegation visited Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Mindray") and saw the company's medical products, including Hospitalwide Solution, Laboratory Diagnostics Solution, and Medical Imaging Solution.
A member of the delegation expressed high praise for Mindray's advanced technology. The official noted that Mindray's cutting-edge technologies in the field of medical equipment are forward-looking. The UK side will actively explore the possibility of introducing these technologies into the National Health Service (NHS) and assess their application prospects in improving the efficiency of medical services.
During their visit, the delegation expressed their desire to build a closer and more cooperative relationship with Shenzhen on the existing basis, and to deepen exchanges in the fields of economy, culture, and more.
One member of the delegation mentioned that the UK has already begun using big data to support public services and leveraging artificial intelligence to improve transportation systems.
He said: "Shenzhen can offer inspiration in areas such as transportation, health, and architectural environment. We hope to use this visit as an opportunity to further deepen our cooperation and exchanges. We already have a good start."
